[edit]I didn't see any licensing info on Image:Mancala_generic.png, which I've been editing to illustrate rules in Oware and Kalah. Maybe not a big deal, I just wanted to verify it's GFDL so these edits can be as well. Kevin Saff 15:41, 2 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks. I added the GFDL msg to it. PilotPrecise 06:05, 6 April 2004 (UTC)
"Sadly, my colleagues use my experience in this debacle as an object lesson for the entire project"
I once left the project for a time after deciding to use Daniel C. Boyer as a signal issue for the entire project. That was a debacle of the first order, with largely the same issues as Ambition, and was finally deleted a year after the controversy first started. I took these lessons from the experience:
- Wikipedia is overly indulgent of fringe topics. Many are included that should not be. Much fringe content is unverifiable and I have found cases where it is demonstrably false. Egregious cases, like Ambition, where there is an attempt to link the article from more general-interest articles, usually get resolved. Stand-alone fringe articles do not.
- The most effective way to deal with fringe content is to collect it all in one article, where it can be watched and where it will create the least trouble. The project is much more accepting of moving and organizing than it is of deleting.
- Consider the MeatBall:LongNow. If you walk away from a terrible Wikipedia article, in nearly all cases it will be improved within 6-12 months. That's nothing in the greater scheme of things.
- Dealing with articles like Ambition is an achilles' heel of the project - one of its weakest points. Don't let this color your perception of the other 99% of the project, which, by and large, is great.

Unverified images
[edit]Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the imagesand I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. [[User:Poccil|Peter O. (Talk, automation script)]] 23:28, Dec 9, 2004 (UTC)
P.S. You can help tag other images at User:Yann/Untagged_Images. Thanks again.
