Polyglot?
[edit]Why is he classed an American Polyglot if there isn't even any mention of what languages he speaks in the body of the article? 71.247.42.134 05:12, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Edits
[edit]I edited the page. I added info and quotes from reputable sources, and was in the middle of citing everything, but then the bot went in and reverted it to the old version. Has this happened to anyone else? Or does anyone else know how to make sure it doesn't happen in the future?
Do we know for sure he quit cigarette smoking? I think that should be taken out. He could go back to it tomorrow and none of us would know.
I think he just quit drugs.

Or if Wikipedia blocked that Youtube link, it's the Julian interview on The New Music '06.

This is OR but he smokes. Not that that needs to be in a brief bio.ChipotlePickle (talk) 01:35, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Some help
[edit]So I'd really like to update this page, but I want to make sure I've got it right. Can anybody tell me where I might be able to find old articles about Julian and/or The Strokes? I've been looking through the New York City Public Library archives, as well as the NYU online archives and neither of them seems to have anything. Any suggestions?
You should go to shesfixingherhair.co.uk. They've got some pretty good shit there. -Brigid
What?
[edit]what the fuck is wrong with this page? It sounds like it was ripped from a shitty music magazine. 137.186.145.102 04:57, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Picture?
[edit]Can we get a photo on this page? 70.162.37.27 03:27, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Where did his original picture(http://api.ning.com/files/riCJkJIjYZxPLWGHTlNWI6kiOMobexICf3mTXrLBDNFB1OOLf44FQ*BSFTmhkcNIPPca2zaWWgXFKSpADh69nmGSIsb1j*LV/Julian_Casablancas_01.jpg) go? Crediting issues?
Brigid Choi (talk) 03:27, 16 February 2009 (UTC) There must be a thousand photos of JFC on flickr with Creative Commons licenses. Are those OK to use? ChipotlePickle (talk) 01:33, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Not up to scratch
[edit]It's true there are some real problems with this article. It includes speculation about the future, it's written in a very non-encyclopaedic way...in short...bizarre. Needs someone's attention.

cleanup
[edit]this still has some good info on Casablancas, and after a pic and a clean up, will be a good article. I did a little...I'll probably do some more laterOsbus 20:37, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Uh, what??
[edit]Yeah this article is really weird. What's with the constant Kurt Cobain comparisons? Is whoever wrote this shit trying to say that Julian is going to shoot himself (or that Juliet is going to shoot him)?? Plus most of the information under "Music" is more about the band in general.
Anyways, I am going to definitely clean this up whenever I have the time. Also I added a photo. It's kinda oldish, but oh well.
Later edit: Okay, I don't think the entire last section has any real information or facts in it whatsoever. And it should be deleted... which I tried to do, but apparently someone had a problem with that. So I am asking everyone: what do you think about it? Should it stay or should it go?
- I know! Whats up with that! Can Nirvana and the Strokes BE any different? And I dont think Jules could ever be Kurt, even if he wanted to.
Nepotism
[edit]There were some rumors of nepotism when the strokes first came up, particular because of Casablanca's father's connections. Anyone find anything on that? 201.21.20.196 16:23, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
--> there is no nepotism. Julian doesn't talk to his dad, unless he needs to break into them records.
Category:Bass guitarists
[edit]I added Julian to the list because he does play bass for Albert. --74.34.217.222 00:03, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Marriage
[edit]I heard somewhere that Julian and his wife have separated, can anyone confirm this and if true modify the entry please. 86.135.175.186 15:17, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
I don't know if they have separated but it appears that Juliet is no longer working at Wiz Kid. Apparently, the Strokes have an assistant manager named Aleks Cisneros. 03:45, 27 January 2008 (UTC))
I heard that they were not marrried anymore too, also juliet stopped working withe the band in october 07 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.134.191.33 (talk) 14:16, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Wasn't he with Regina Spektor for about 8 months as well? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Knots1970 (talk • contribs) 11:33, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Music
[edit]I added information about his vocal style and compositional style. I used the Strokes music as the main source and site specific songs to display certain points. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alanswindoll (talk • contribs) 18:47, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Piano composing- so what?
[edit]"most under appreciated innovation is his use of the keyboard to write complex arrangement" um there is hardly a band in the world that doesn't come up with songs like this... it's hardly innovative. Perhaps that's why it's so under appreciated? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.103.77.42 (talk) 15:33, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
why compare him to ian curtis? i don't think jules has ever cited joy division as a reference point for the band..................... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.14.106.103 (talk) 04:38, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Associated Acts
[edit]Why exactly are The Libertines listed under associated acts? Apart from the fact that they make similar music to The Strokes, Julian doesn't really have anything to do with them, does he? They aren't mentioned in the article, anyway. --Kayanna89 (talk) 20:46, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion?
[edit]What the heck? I'm seeing a "may meet criteria for speedy deletion" notice at the top. However, there is no such tag in the wiki markup, and neither of the listed CSD categories actually list this page as a candidate. Anyone else seeing this? --Squishydodo (talk) 20:07, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Okay, it looks like it went away. Never mind. --Squishydodo (talk) 04:08, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Accolade in the opening lead
[edit]There has been a bit of edit warring going on as of late since Daft Punk won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. There have been a couple of users who keep wanting to put "Grammy Award-winning" in the opening because of Casablancas' involvement on the Random Access Memories album. Is it really necessary to put someone's award in the opening? TheOnlyOne12 (talk) 16:27, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
- There has been an IP and a user with his first edit after the last IP edit … not necessarily a couple of users. |FDMS 18:10, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
- I'm assuming the IP and the user are the same person because of the edits. Is it a coincidence both of them reverted my edits similar to each other? Well, I don't see a point to include Grammy Award winning in the lead. I can't seem to find any guidelines on whether one's award should go in the lead or not. Other musicians who have won a Grammy do not have these in their lead paragraph. This article should be no different. TheOnlyOne12 (talk) 21:03, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- Since there have been no further discussions and consensus being reached, I will go ahead and remove "Grammy Award-winning" from the lead. TheOnlyOne12 (talk) 18:01, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Legacy and Influence
[edit]Hello, all. I am editing this page more or less, section by section. One very cringe-worthy section, in my opinion, is the legacy and influence section. It is uncomfortably short and does not reflect any of Julian's career what-so-ever. Does anyone have any suggestions upon improving this section? Additionally, does anyone feel that the content currently included is in particularly relevant/important? I am leaning towards deleting the section altogether before finding sources to support the legacy of his music. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IAmCarlyGallo (talk • contribs) 22:40, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
Adding in "Politics" Section
[edit]I think within recent years Julian has made more of an impression with his political commentary. I think it is appropriate to include a section dedicated to this, as it has now influenced the nature of his music. Anyone opposed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by IAmCarlyGallo (talk • contribs) 22:42, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
Marriage status
[edit]Julian not divorced with Juliet Joslin and didn't have any gay marriage. The page obviously attacked by trolls. Jamesghorn (talk) 19:05, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
Edit warring on marriage status
[edit]Maiacirio, you must provide a reliable source for the year of divorce that you have added and persistently restored ([1], [2], [3]). These additions are not supported by nor can they be verified by any of the present sources cited in the article. Despite your edits being challenged by numerous IP editors and myself, and being warned on your talk page, you have continued to edit war and broken the three revert rule. If you continue this behavior and cannot interact with other editors here to achieve a consensus on how the marital status should be presented, then you will be blocked for disruptive editing.– Aranya (talk) 17:14, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
Leftover Crack
[edit]The last paragraph of the “collaboration” section mentions a collaboration between Julian and Leftover Crack that does not actually exist. 217.180.219.238 (talk) 11:18, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
